The Red Fort at Agra, overlooking the Taj Mahal, where Shah Jahan spent his dying years imprisoned while watching his creation (the Taj Mahal was to be his wife's and his own tomb) rise slowly to the east. At this spot his forefather Jehangir set up a palace complaint chain: any citizen could (literally) yank this chain to get the emperor's attention, circumventing the court channels.
