Tiger Leaping Gorge
Just to the west of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is Tiger Leaping Gorge,
the deepest gorge on earth. We walked about 11 km of this trek, which
is popular with Westerners. The first two hours were the most
beautiful for me: the trail winds through farming terraces and grassy
slopes. At one turn near the beginning, the mountain comes into view
from the trail. A woman sitting there by her farm saw me pass and
said, pointing at the mountain, "Yulong Xueshan, Yulong Xueshan."
