Central Europe, 2008:

This image of the snow falling on the Schonbrunn palace formal gardens captures the essence of my November 2008 trip to Central Europe. It was cold and grey, and it often snowed or rained, though never enough to ruin the sights.

The purpose of the trip was to see the museums and sights of four Central European countries: Prague, Czech Republic; Vienna, Austria; Bratislava, Slovakia; and Budapest, Hungary. I especially wanted to see some of the sights associated with Napoleon's two invasions of Central Europe, especially his greatest victory, Austerlitz.
