Around Venice

Lest anyone still think that I didn't actually ever leave New York, here are the two photos I took of myself while sitting on a bench near the public gardens, with the campanile and the Salute in the background.

Inspired by the work of travel-photo enthusiast Saul Blumenthal, I thought of taking a snapshot of myself in the rear-view mirror of a grand canal vaporetto. But I ran out of film, so the shot was never made. Lucky for me, since I now learn that Saul had already taken just such a photo of himself!
