Rudolfo and Lee invited me and two other guests to join them at the New Year's fiesta put on by Theo, one of their employees. The five of us were treated as visiting royalty, with five plastic chairs set out for us in the middle of the street. There we watched the hanging of the pinata, and I drank my first beer.
