Chichen Itza hotel

I stayed at the Hacienda Chichen resort hotel just a 60 Peso taxi ride from the ruins. When a Harvard archeologist named Edward Thompson purchased the entire ruins of Chichen Itza for only US$ 75 in 1900, he made this 16th century ranch building his base of operations. Today a room costs over US$ 100 per night. The voices I overheard in the dining room were English, but most of the guests seemed to address the staff in limited Spanish.
