Notwithstanding the expections of the man at the Hertz rental car counter, who predicted we would go on a raucus spree while in Quebec, Dave and I spent our time excogitating on weighty subjects such as the reasons for Montcalm's decision to sortie from the citadelle to attack Wolfe during the 1759 British attack on the city, which decided the fate of the French in Canada.

During our time in the tourist area of town I felt that we heard about as many French speakers as English speakers.
