Sevilla and the Alcazar
Sevilla was another capital of Andalusia, both before and after the
Christian reconquest in 1248. The Alcazar palace was home to the late
Moorish rulers and later to Ferdinand and Isabella, who approved the mission
to the Americas from its rooms. The gigantic cathedral was built atop
the ruins of a former mosque across the plaza from the Alcazar.
