Vitoria was one of the last major battles of the Peninsular War between the Spanish and British versus the French under Napoleon. The British under Wellington. Generals Kempt and Picton had to find secret location to cross the Zadorra and attack the French in Vitoria. Luckily, a little Roman bridge near the picturesque town of Tres Puentes was intact and shielded from French view by a small hill. Once the British were across they could attack the heights overlooking town. The victory in 1813 sealed the fate of the French in Spain. Tres Puentes and the Roman arch bridge
