Trans Siberian 2009:
For rail buffs the Trans-Siberian is a living legend. Crossing
thousands of kilometers and at least a half-dozen time zones, the
trains of the Trans-Siberian routes are practically speaking the
longest rail service in the world by distance. In the case of the most popular
route, popularly known as the Trans-Mongolian or technically trains 3
and 4, the line crosses 7600 kilometers and links two of the world's
great capitals, Moscow and Beijing.
Dad and I left New York on May 21, visited Moscow, St. Petersburg, and
Sergiev Posad, then boarded the Trans-Siberian in Moscow on May 26 for
the ride to Beijing, arriving on June 1.
